Reviews & Scores
Pale yellow. Perfumed aromas of pear and white flowers. Intensely flavored, juicy and savory; tighter today than the Tessons, showing more lemony grip. Roulot owns two parcels in Poruzots but the one on clay soil was pulled out for replanting before 2015. The remaining parcel features a clay layer over limestone and, indeed, this wine displays a captivating touch of minerality. - VM

An interesting and layered nose offers up ripe but cool aromas of green fruit, white flowers and an unusual note of tangerine peel. As is usually the case there is more volume and power to the full-bodied and quite powerful flavors that evidence excellent mid-palate concentration, all wrapped in a robust and muscular finish. This is a big but not rustic effort that should reward up to a decade of cellaring. - BH

The 2015 Meursault 1er Cru le Porusot, which since 2014 comes from just one plot on the lieu-dit of Porusot-Dessus, was matured in one-quarter new oak. It was a bit reticent on the nose when I tasted it, the aromatics stubborn and refusing to show themselves. The palate is much more responsive: just a touch of reduction on the entry then a lively second half with fresh grapefruit, Granny Smith apple and pear, leading to a vibrant saline finish. Despite the recalcitrant nose, my feeling is that this may well turn out to be one of Jean-Marc's best 2015s. - WA
