Very deep, primary red color, with a ruby tinge. Aromas of black cherry, mocha, spices and pepper, plus a hint of coffee evolution. Wonderfully sweet and deep, showing a hint of animal development to its youthful flavors of dark fruits, pepper and herbs. Still a bit of CO2 to be absorbed here! Boasts a filigree texture and conveys an impression of power with restraint. This very young wine is a bit similar to the 2013 in its structure and volume of tannins but it's hard to imagine that the '13 will evolve at such a leisurely pace. - VM

An extraordinary wine, Dugat's 2002 Griotte-Chambertin Grand Cru unfurls in the glass with aromas of dark berry fruit, exotic spices, rose petals, licorice, musk and orange rind. Full-bodied, deep and complete, it's layered and multidimensional, with velvety tannins, incredible intensity of flavor and bright girdling acids. Concluding with a long, perfumed finish, this is a remarkable bottle that's in its prime today. - WA
